Semana Diez (Of Crazy People and St. Patrick's Day)

Hello again my peoples!

First off..... WELCOME TO MARCH! The month of my favorite Holiday, St. Patricks Day! (And no, I'm not Irish.....)

In good news, the insane weather here has let up (slightly......) giving us some beautiful, green, warm, sunny days! But in very bad news...... Those HORRIFIC beautiful, green, warm, sunny days, have also led to some horrible allergies. Geesh! Doesn't this place have any mercy!?! Apparently not......
You see some pretty interesting things here in Idabel, but one of the most notable is the local crazy lady! I'm serious! She has a walker, which everyone believes she stole, her hair is full of sticks, very dirty, talks to herself practically 24/7, and roams the streets everyday from 5 AM to 8 PM. Everyone knows who she is, and everyone knows to stay away from her. As missionaries we've tried to talk to her and help her, (Because at one point we felt bad for her.....), but not only is she crazy, she's also  incredibly mean and cranky! (All while talking to herself!)

Here's a story with her...... The other day we were doing our language studies in the local library and she strolled in, walker and all. She went to the phone and started screaming at the person on the other line. One of the cranky librarians told her to be quite and soon it resulted in a literal old lady fight in the library. Pushing, screaming, the works! Just know...... The Idabel library is very different from the libraries back home.

I must've spent a lot of time at the library this week, because this next thing we did was also at the library! Weirdly, not only do people not feed the missionaries in this area, but they also won't give them any service to do. (I'm serious the local food bank turned us down cold like we were crazy people.......) So we have to be creative! We're good friends with the librarians at the library, so after asking if there was any service to be done, they gave us the celestial job of decorating the library tree for St. Patricks Day! (I guess that's a thing here........) Now, with my love of St. Patricks day this job was a dream come true! (See the pictures for evidence......)

Life is good! We continue to find a many new investigators, and several of our investigators (Namely Jona and the Wilsons) are doing very well! The work is progressing! (Just hopfully it's progressing faster than people are going inactive....... Idabel is known for being a difficult area.) But luckily, that just means more work to be done!

In other great news! We have a very grouchy, gruff, somewhat rebellious Branch President who seriously dislikes the missionaries and only comes to church part of the time.......... Well this week we went to his house for dinner, and slowly, very slowly, we're starting to build some trust with him! This is seriously a miracle in and of itself! It's true, he still uses the least amount of words possible when talking to us, but hey! He's talking to us! Miracles are real! Church is true!

People here love picking apart my accent and they often ask me to repeat words just for entertainment! (Particularly the word "Important"!) It's fun, I'm working particularly hard to build friendships with the youth in the branch, and it seems to be paying off big time!

Everyone, I love what I'm doing here! Life is good, and I didn't even realize transfers are coming up until someone pointed it out to me! Time is flying!

This church is true, if you don't know for yourself go read the book and find out! (I'm talking about the Book of Mormon incase you're confused......) The spirit about that book is undeniable, and the contents are just as powerful! I love you all!

Have yourself a blessed day!

P.S- And yes, just as you see in the picture below, I did actually go to Walmart and buy myself some green plastic forks just for St. Patricks day!

P.P.S- Shout out to my awesome robotics coach, Keith Schramm, with his and his team's success at the Utah Regional this last week!
