(Also one thing I just want to clear up! I don't have internet in my apartment, so I'll send emails before the end of P-Day at 6 o'clock and then they don't end up getting sent until the next time I have internet........ Which may be later in the week!)
Hello hello hello!
Feel free to congratulate me because I have now OFFICIALLY survived for two weeks in this beautiful, crime ridden, corner of Oklahoma! I love it, every second of it! (Still........)
Oh man, this last week was an awesome blur! I got to spend a romantic Valentine's day making the long three and a half hour drive down to Tyler for a Zone conference! It was a party! On the way back we went to this wicked awesome taco place called Torchey's Tacos. It apparently has a lot of hype down here, so I guess we're cool now........ If missionaries can be cool!
It's incredibly wet and humid here! (You go outside and you feel like you're swimming!) It rained pretty much this whole week! (Which was a fiesta in and of itself.........) But we've now had a couple of warm"ish" days and things are starting to turn a beautiful emerald green! This place is overrun with stray cats and dogs! It's nuts!
We've been working our butts off here in Idabel (Hopefully that's appropriate missionary language......)! Over the last couple of weeks we have been blowing records out of the water for finding new investigators! This week our goal was 7, we found 13 new investigators! One of our most promising investigators right now is the shorter guy in the photo below! His name is Jonah Steffler, and last Friday he accpeted a baptismal invitation! Awesome guy! The branch here is really interesting....... It's a really good week if we can get 40-50 people, and the branch presidency only shows up about half of the time! (Fun stuff!) The people up here just don't feed the missionaries which is sad....... We'll do what we can to change that!
Now that it's starting to warm up we have to be careful because there are gangs and all sorts of sketchy people who wander the streets after dark! It's crazy, so many people here have been in jail! Seriously, over half of our investigators are recently out of prison! I love it! This place is overrun with Racoons, Skunks, and even Possums! I haven't seen any yet, but apparently alligators are native to Mccurtain County! Since hearing that, I have been closely scanning the many murky ponds in the area! If I do come across a gator, cotten mouth, or water moccasin I don't know if I'll be able to resist the temptation to catch it! Wish me luck!
One of the first questions we get asked when we bump into people is whether we are Jehova's Witnesses! People here HATE Jehova's Witnesses almost as much as the HATE Muslims which is sad....... (I've had to work hard to convince several people that the church is not evil for not condeming Muslims......... Sad stuff.) It's near impossible to find anyone here that does not have a fiery pashion for Jesus Christ! It makes missionary work interesting.......
Here's a miracle for yall.......... People up here live in these ugly little huts called trailer homes. (Sorry if you live in one, but it's the truth.........) Anyways, there's this lot of land up in Broken Bow (A town 20 minutes north of Idabel!) where several of our new investigators live in these trailer homes. (Including this awesome Hispanic lady named Vicki!). Sadly the land was bought by the city and everyone needs to pack up and leaving by March 31st. These people are pretty much broke and have now where to go. They asked us to pray for them which we started to do with a pashion! Well guess what!?!?! Prayers really do work!! Last night most of our appointments were falling through when we received a strong prompting to go visit one of our new investigators from earlier that week. After getting lost for an embarrassing amount time we finally found our way there! Sadly she had gone to bed, but we started talking with her husband, Jerry! All of a sudden in the middle of the conversation Jerry suddenly brought up the fact that he had just purchased a new lot of land up in Broken Bow for Trailer Homes! WHAT!?!?! Out of all the people we could have been talking to that night, we had randomly found the ONE person we needed to talk too!! Immediatly after that, we contacted the people up in Broken Bow, their problem now being solved. Everyone, miracles are real. I love being a missionary. This life is seriously the best!
Well folks, that about wraps it up for this week! Have a blessed day! (EVERYONE says that hear.......... I guess it's a thing.)
Gotta love it!

P.S- The very last picture with the house, those people have a pet wolf chained up in their back yard! Fun stuff!
