Man, what a couple of wild days! I arrived at the MTC on Thursday and was immediately approached and attacked by a roving band of district leaders who introduced me to my companero, Elder Peterson. He's a pretty cool, pretty chill guy from Morgan, Utah. (We're both new in the MTC, and he's going to Dallas as well!) He has red hair, and LIVES for gym time everyday. We've been together for a couple days now, and it looks like we're going to get along quite well. Hopefully I don't scare him with my eagerness to study and learn the language in every spare second of the day........
After dropping off our bags in our room we were marched right into class! Elder Peterson and I oddly enough arrived a week after those in our district, so we are an entire week behind everyone else. And so we are expected to catch up to the rest of the district in addition to learning the basics. We have a separate small class to help us catch up, mucho rapido. There is one Hermana in the class with us who arrived late as well.
It was a little startling when our teachers began teaching us Espanol strictly in Espanol......... You learn quickly, but it's hard when you only understand a fraction of what's being said to you. However, even with how difficult it is (And this is the hardest thing I have ever done!), I LOVE every second of it! I feel a desire to learn this language. I will speak Espanol if it's the last thing I do........ (Which it might be the last thing I do........)
Elder Peterson and I share a room with our district leaders named Elder Sharpe, who's from Ireland, and Elder Nelson, who's destined to become an apostle someday. (On the bright side he's going to Dallas with me!) They are both pretty cool, and I like sharing the room with them. I'm enjoying living out of the house.
Zone 26, is petty awesome! Everyone in the zone, except for one district speak Espanol and are involved in the churches new pilot program. Nearly every missionary in the zone is going to either Dallas, Chicago, or Washington. (The regions where the pilot program are being implemented.......) The zone leaders, Elder Allred and Elder Desbain, are pretty awesome! Elder Desbain is officially my new padre. Our zone lives for the game of four square. It is the game of games. People talk about it constantly! I need to pick up my four square game ASAP!
I don't know where I would be without Google Translate on my phone. I dedicate all my spare time to the language. I want to learn it more than anything. Once I finish this email, I'm going to go get a badly wanted hair cut.
The standard procedure at meal time is to criticize the food in any way possible. Missionaries take this responsibility very seriously. And it's true....... Luckily the oranges hear are pretty good! I'm honestly so happy here, and can feel the spirit wherever I go. This where I want to be, and I know that this is where the Lord wants me to be. I love every second of it. I'm honestly so happy here. (Good luck getting me to leave......)
I love you all, but I can't say that I miss you yet. (There's simply too much Espanol to learn to even think about that!) I'm just so excited to be here. I want to learn the language so badly, and I'm willing to do whatever it takes to learn it. You're all incredible people.
Even though I have only been here a couple days, I have felt an increase of the spirit ten fold. This is the place to be. I love this gospel, and I love all of you. I will keep you in my prayers. (Even if those prayers are said in very poor Espanol........) I know this church is true with all my heart. El Iglesia es verdad.
Look for my email next week,
~Elder Fox
