Semana Cincuenta y Seis (The Stars at Night are Big and Bright! Deep in the Heart of Río!)(Río Trinidad, TX)

We'll keep this email short and spicy this week! (just like all my meals here in Río Trinidad.... we'll at least the spicy part anyways.... 🌶️🌶️)

This week was a good one! Lot's of biking in the cold, many doors knocked! (It got down into the 20's this week, so that was fun, but still no snow.....)

One cool miracle from the week! Friday night we went to visit this part member family which had just moved here from California, and the non-member mother of the family, Veronica, was  GOLDEN!!!! We put her on date the very first lesson for February 16th! The dad, who was a member, was bouncing off the walls excited! In fact he was so excited that he took selfie with us and then commenced to send it to everyone in his phone! Have miracles ceased? I saw unto you.... NAY

Also I got to see Dallas proper for the first time on my mission this week!  I saw it while driving to Oak Cliff, the supposed ghetto part of south Dallas, where I went to go work for a day while Elder Wardell went to the temple with a recent convert. (on said exchange I almost got mauled by two giant pitbulls wandering the streets, but luckily a car passed between us just in time....) But in the long run, Oak Cliff ghetto has nothing on Mesquite/South-East Dallas ghetto.... Take that Oak Cliff!!!

But ya..... Spanish is coming along nicely. I understood a good amount of what was being said yesterday in church for a change, so that's good. Surprising how quickly serving in a Spanish area actually helps your Spanish improve! Crazy! 🌮🌮

Here's a small funny miracle from this week to close.....

"Saturday we sat down for lunch at this small, but packed diner in North Oak Cliff. We both ordered burgers with an egg inside, though my egg was still quite runny. As I took the first bite the egg exploded! The mess covered my arm, watch, and the table, but miraculously it perfectly missed my white shirt and clothes..... What are the odds!! And to make things even better, a random person at the diner paid for our meal. God looks out for us even in the small things, even if that small thing means not getting egg yolk all over your shirt. We're so blessed."

But there you have it, another week in Texas! Love ya'll! Go make yourself some tacos! (p.s- Real Hispanics don't eat tacos the way we eat tacos....) (p.p.s- Hispanics think white people eat bread the way they eat tortillas. It's hilarious!! The few times they've made us "American food", they always provide a loaf of bread and are surprised when we don't eat very much of the bread!! 🍞)
