Semana Sesenta y Cuatro (Juan O'Brian the Spanish/Irish Leprechaun........ St Patrick's Day! 🍀)(Río Trinidad, TX)

Goooodmorning!

You're probably aware, but yesterday we celebrated probably the greatest holiday known to mankind..... St Patrick's Day! Woo-hoo! (if you didn't know I love St Patrick's Day because who doesn't love celebrating some random catholic missionary and mythical little men that sneak into people's homes. Am I right? )

So you may ask, what did I do to celebrate? Let me tell you, I of course had nothing to do with it, but yesterday before church and ward council our apartment just so happed to be struck by the famous Spanish/Irish Leprechaun, Juan O'Brian. Who at some point during the night had snuck into our apartment, and stolen all of Elders Hodge's frozen junk food he had in the freezer and hid it somewhere in the apartment and left 11 clues that, if followed, would lead him back to his beloved frozen ice cream and waffles. (The deal was he had to find the food before it all melted....) So as I was showering I got to enjoy the sounds of Elder Hodge frantically running around the apartment on a Leprechaun hunt..... Oh how I love St Patrick's Day! 🍀🍀

But beyond that we did lots of service and finding this week. (compared to previous weeks we've been focusing our finding efforts on the members rather than knocking ALL the doors...... And I know deep down it's the better way..... It just feels slower and less productive sometimes.)

Last night we were biking home from an awesome lesson with a new family we've recently started teaching (they're so cool! We read the first chapter of El Libro De Mormon with them and they loved it. They kept asking questions haha) But on the way back Elder Hodge seriously popped his back tire, so we had a good long walk home. So that was fun.

I'm still not great at Spanish, but I'm slowly starting to be able to have just a normal conversation with people before lessons which has done a lot to help us better connect with those we're teaching...... Honestly that's so much of missionary work. Building trust and friendship with people. Very few people are converted by straight doctrine shoved in their face. You need one on one trust combined with true doctrine. That's where Baptisms come from. And the holy ghost of course, never forget the holy ghost.

But ya.... We've finally built up our teaching pool a little bit, but we're struggling to get people to church...... (9 AM Church + Hispanics is a bad combination....) but no doubt, we'll get them there eventually!

Well that about wraps it up for this week..... Love ya'll!

1. Nothing better than some scripture study combined with Lucky Charms and an avocado..... That's happiness.

2. The dynamic duo walking home late at night......

3. Eating at some hole in the wall Mexican joint with the zone leaders.

4-5. Service! (don't ask why in the first picture I'm beating the log with a hammer
